Understand the differences between the two main legal systems – Civil Law and Common Law and their different approaches to contract drafting. Practice and develop good drafting skills and become familiar with some of the most common contract clauses, risk areas and mitigation tools. This course is available at IATA Training Centers, Regional Training Partner locations, and on-demand as in-company training. The recommended level of language proficiency is ICAO Operational Level 4 for courses in English or equivalent for other languages.

That all-important law conversion course which is required of all graduates who studied a non-law subject, but are looking to qualify as a lawyer. In a nutshell, you’ll need to take the GDL if you’ve not studied a qualifying law degree at undergraduate level – usually LLB Law. It’s a fast-track one-year course that will impart all of the legal wisdom you need to continue your law career. You’ll be able to study the GDL at a university or training provider. GDL any more, as the SQE will teach you everything you need to know.

However, don’t panic if you’ve factored the GDL into your future plans – there’s going to be a long transition period, where it’s possible to qualify with either the GDL or the SQE.
